Which Premier League club has never been relegated?

Every season, three clubs are relegated to the Championship from the Premier League. The teams that finish bottom in the league standings get promoted the following season.

Few teams can say they have never been demoted from the Premier League since it was formed in 1992 to replace the English First Division. The Premier League had 22 clubs. As the 1994–1995 season came to a close, that figure was lowered to 20.

The teams in question are Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester United. Those six teams have maintained their presence in the Premier League for many years.

The inclusion of Brighton brings that total up to date, but only because they have managed to avoid relegation since their promotion to the Premier League in 2017–18.

Relegation from the Premier League has never happened to seven teams in total: Brighton, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester United.

Having said that, all of those teams have been demoted at some point, though not for very long, from the tournament that was founded in 1992.

Over the years, 50 different teams have played in the Premier League, and seven different teams have won it.

They have been playing in the English Premier League since 1919–20, and they have not been demoted to a lower division since then. Arsenal have a very long and illustrious history in the Premier League, and they have always been one of the most famous teams during their existence.

In the history of the Premier League, the Gunners are the only team to have won the league and stayed unbeaten during the whole current season. Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Patrick Vieira, and some other players are among the most accomplished players in Arsenal’s history.

The inclusion of Everton on the list is likely to come as a significant shock to a large number of supporters. Toffees, on the other hand, have a rich history in the sport of English football. They may seem to be a club that is in the middle of the table, yet they have won nine championships in the first division. The club from Merseyside has never been demoted from the Premier League. Their most recent demotion was in the 1954–1955 season, and they remained in the Premier League for a total of eight seasons until the 1961–1962 season, when they were once again promoted.

There is a passionate rivalry between Liverpool and Everton in the Premier League, which is one of the oldest rivalries in English football. This rivalry is focused on the Merseyside region. Everton came perilously close to being demoted during the previous season; nevertheless, they were able to finish in sixteenth place and narrowly avoided being demoted.

The fact that Liverpool is one of the Big Six in the Premier League should not come as a surprise. Over the course of the last several years, they have maintained their position as one of the best teams in both the Premier League and Europe.

With a total of six trophies (Champions League) to their name, Liverpool is the English club that has achieved the greatest level of success in Europe. As a result of the fact that many of the greatest players in the history of the sport have regarded Anfield as one of the most difficult places to play, their fan base is just incredible all over the globe.

Manchester United

Many consider Manchester United to be the most valuable football club in the world. Twenty league titles, twelve FA Cups, six League Cups, and an astounding twenty-one Community Shields are all theirs.

They have won the FIFA Club World Cup, Intercontinental Cup, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, UEFA Europa League, and the UEFA Champions League (three times).

Manchester United were very successful when Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson were managing the club. Their 1968 European Cup victory occurred ten years after the devastating Munich air tragedy, which had killed eight players. They were the first English team to achieve this feat.

With 38 medals, including 13 leagues, 5 FA Cups, and 2 Champions Leagues, the Red Devils had tremendous success throughout Ferguson’s tenure.

They achieved the unprecedented triple of winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League in the 1998–99 season. Manchester United’s rivals are Leeds United, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal.

This football club has long been considered one of the most valuable in the world. It had been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 1991, but American investor Malcolm Glazer bought it out in 2005, taking it private.

A portion of the club’s stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

Since the 1970s, Tottenham have been a mainstay in England’s premier division. Their most recent relegation, in the 1976–77 season, was just a temporary setback, as they resumed play in the First Division in 1978–79 and beyond.

When Tottenham won both the league and the FA Cup in the same season in 1960–1961, they were the first club in the twentieth century to accomplish this feat.

After becoming the first British team to win a UEFA club tournament in 1963, they made history in 1962 by successfully defending the FA Cup.

They won another major European title in 1972 when they became the first team to ever do so—the UEFA Cup. Not only that, but they are second only to Manchester United in the number of decades (from the 1950s to the 2000s) in which they have won a major trophy.

Two league championships, eight FA Cups, four League Cups, and seven FA Community Shields are all in Spurs’ trophy case. In addition to two UEFA Cups and one European Cup Winners’ Cup.

Anyone familiar with the Premier League knows that Chelsea is a powerhouse among the clubs. The London club’s trophy case includes five Premier League victories. Their most recent victory came during Antonio Conte’s tenure as manager in 2016–17. Chelsea last played in the English Premier League in 1987–88, although they were back in the league the following year.

They have a long-standing animosity for Leeds United in addition to their intense rivalries with Tottenham and Arsenal.

They haven’t lost a step since, becoming one of just six Premier League teams to avoid relegation throughout the league’s history. When Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003, it was a huge turning point. He gave the team the money that they needed.

Final thought

Surprisingly, after joining the Premier League in 2017, Brighton & Hove Albion have also managed to avoid relegation.   The club has experience playing at a high level; from 1979 to 1983, they played four seasons in the First Division.

Their 1982–83 season ended in relegation to the Second Division, as they finished last.

What are the six teams that have never been relegated from the Premier League?

Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham are the only six teams that have managed to avoid relegation since the Premier League’s inception in 1992.
